In the final stage of the teardown of the iPad mini, we examined its main
board. We took out the main board from the lower area of the case and removed a
metal shield from the board.
Only one side of the iPad mini's main board was equipped with main
components and connectors. No component was mounted on the back side. And the
top side had a large area where no component was mounted.
This time, we broke down the "Wi-Fi" model of the iPad mini, which
only has a wireless LAN function. Probably, the "Wi-Fi + Cellular"
model, which supports LTE, HSPA, etc uses the space for communication circuits.
In the center of the main board, there were the "A5" application
processor with an Apple mark and the "343S0593-A5" power supply
control chip. In consideration of Apple Inc's past products, they seemed to be
manufactured by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Dialog Semiconductor plc.
What surprised us was that the 16-Gbyte flash memory of the iPad mini was
manufactured by SanDisk Corp. According to a report of IHS iSuppli Corp,
Toshiba Corp and SK Hynix Inc also supply it. The suppliers of the other
components were almost the same as before.
